"The 6 Worst Domain Names EVER!"
(What were they thinking???)
By Jamila White, “The E-Commerce Diva”
Choose
your domain name carefully. Sometimes when you add two or more words together
without spaces, you can unintentionally change the meaning and end up in
a very embarrassing situation. Here are six real-life examples of good names
gone bad…
- "Who
Represents?", a database of agencies for the rich and famous
http://www.whorepresents.com
- Experts
Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views
http://www.expertsexchange.com
- Pen
Island, a pen retailer
http://www.penisland.net
- Therapist
Finder, a directory of counselors
http://www.therapistfinder.com
- PowerGen
Italia, a power utility company in Italy
http://www.powergenitalia.com
- The
Mole Station Native Nursery, an Australian plant nursery
http://www.molestationnursery.com
(Note that this now redirects to a better domain)
You’d think these companies would realize their mistake and change their domain names, right? WRONG! All of these web sites (except one, expertsexchange.com) are up and running today.
There's a lesson here for web marketers... Make sure you read and re-read your domain name, and get a second opinion!
